School security measures

Our school is in an area that gets a bit rough at night. We've had a lot of vandalism at night and during the holidays, and it costs the school a lot to get the vandalism repaired, so we are upping our security measures. It's very distressing for the entire school community when the school is vandalised, so we are hoping that a combination of key, locks and grilles along with security patrols can help to reduce the rate of vandalism we experience. This blog is all about security measures for schools, and I want it to be a place we can share the measures that work for our schools.

3 Things to Consider When Buying a Steel Security Screen for Your Front Door

Blog

Investing in the security of your home is not just a personal decision. It not only affects you but also the people around you such as your family. Therefore, it is prudent for you to keep the house safe against theft and break-ins. A good way to do this is to secure the front door with a security screen. They protect your house against intrusion by burglars. If you are looking to have a steel security screen door installed, here are a few things you should consider:

The frame

The frame determines the sturdiness of your security screen door. It is the link between the surrounding wall areas and the door that you are fitting. Steel screen doors are the most effective in terms of security because of the density of the metal used. Moreover, steel is stainless and resistant to corrosion. It does not weaken after prolonged use, which is an assurance or the many years you will use it.

Besides the fact steel is strong, it has an ideal frame for a security screen door. The frame's receiver channel is deep such that both ends of the grilles are fitted deep within the frame. This makes it hard for a burglar to push the grilles out of the receiver channel and create a way into the house. In addition, it has reinforcements at the corners for maximum protection besides the fact that the door has internal corner stakes.

The infill

The infill is used to fill any holes within the security screen door. It can be made in the form of motif or bars spread across the whole door. These holes can result from small holes or spaces formed when the screen door does not fit perfectly. As much as you are looking to optimise security, it is also important to keep aesthetics into account and do the filling right. Since many people can see your front door, you need to keep it looking presentable all the time. The good news is that steel security screen doors can be decorative while maintaining the same functionality in terms of security.

The grilles

The grilles are metallic attachments offering support through the entire cross-section on the door. The grilles can be made using different patterns. Besides support, they also help you to maintain your privacy by preventing the direct visibility of the interior of your house. However, it is important to note that strong grilles depend on a good frame fitting for a strong security screen door. Since steel provides a good frame, then the grilles are well supported. This makes it difficult for a burglar to break in.
